This morning dawned clear-skied, sunny, and comfortably warm. YEAH! We were pedalling out of town by 7:15 a.m., and got about 10 miles when the group of five cyclists from Oregon who were staying at the same motel as we in Wolf Point caught up with us, and we rode along with them enjoying their company and conversation for awhile. Turns out they had a support vehicle, and they offered to have the driver take our panniers to the next motel for us because they were going to the same motel as we were in Glasgow. We enthusiastically accepted that offer, and about nine miles later the support vehicle passed us and then pulled over and waited for us to catch up. He took all our bags except the one attached to the back of Bill's seat, which he never removes. We happily biked for another 15 miles without baggage when he showed up again at the side of the road just ahead of us. I had not been feeling real well for about a half hour before that, so when he asked if there was anything else he could do for us, I accepted a ride from him, and consequently so did Bill. I just have not totally recovered from the bug I have. It seems to be sinus related with a lot of lung congestion as well. Anyway, it was really a stroke of good luck that we met up with these people, and they were kind enough to offer us a ride. When we got to the motel, I went to bed and slept for three hours!
Tomorrow they have offered to take our bags again to the next town we will be staying overnight, and we'll probably take them up on that. If I still don't feel up to it, I may also take a ride with him again. Anyway, enough of my sick talk. It was enjoyable riding through green Montana. This route is marked on the map as a scenic route, and it certainly is. A rather strong headwind made the ride a little more difficult than it would have been, but at least there were no steep hills to climb. Saw a lot more sagebrush today almost hidden by the tall grass!
Riding on.....
