Wolf Point, Montana 0 miles

Well, our hopes for no big rainstorms or strong headwinds resulted in a big rainstorm and strong headwinds plus cold temperatures. The forecast for the day was 100% chance of rain until 6 p.m., and as we watched the rain get heavier and the wind get stronger as we were sitting in the lobby eating our continental breakfast, we decided the conditions crossed the line from bearable to unbearable. We definitely made the right decision, because it was one big rain and windstorm all day. Four other bicyclists from Oregon on their way to Jasper Park in Canada also decided to stay inside today. It was a  hypothermia kind of day. Will someone please confirm for me that it is June 17th and not January 17?!!

Now we have hopes for a better day tomorrow. The forecast calls for improved weather. I forgot to mention in yesterday's blog that all this rain has turned North Dakota and Montana green. The hills are covered with lush green grass and there is water everywhere. There is a lot of flooding still going on here. It looks really strange to see sagebrush tucked in here and there amongst the grass. Not a patch of brown dry dirt to be seen.
